I sat and just talked. Mum and dad didn't completely agree with the choices I've made. But we sat there and talked. About recently quitting a job, childbirth, the importance of medical checkups and the horror that is long-haul flights.
No memory surfaces when asked to recall the last time I had such a conversation. Sitting there, it felt as if time had stopped but none of us had been fooled. A tick-tock on a clock had come and gone on a merry-go-round that could not return.
At knowing peace, love, respect and admiration was shared between three humans tied together by some other-worldy being or mere coincidence. Trapped in a grain of sand in an hourglass that would one day no longer trickle.
